Cat Hotel.

When I tell anyone about the increasing number of cats that are attracted to our home people will say “Oh a cat hotel”. A few of the cats will come inside to spend the day and then go outside at night time. Another cat only enters our home for breakfast and a quick play and then is not seen until dinner time. While the rest just like to keep warm and sleep through the cold winter months. So yes, a cat hotel sounds about right.

“I love attention and keeping warm”. The neighbours cat Felou

.

“I love to roll around the Christmas paper until I am a parcel”. Angel, our own cat who adores Christmas.

.

“If this wrapping paper moves I will be ready for it”. Spot one of our stray cats. is the smallest cat who although fully grown is only kitten size and she is adorable.

.

“My coat is so thick and gorgeous, I look like a person in the 1930’s wearing a dinner jacket with a white shirt and black and white shoes”. Loki, the mischievous one.

Loki is coming out of his shell and has started to play with cat toys. Yesterday he had one end of a cat string and Spot had the other. Then Loki decided to take the string under the bed while Spot was still biting the opposite end. I had the thought of little Spot slowly being dragged under the bed so I had to help by diverting Loki’s attention to another cat toy.

.

“I can run inside this cat tunnel, back wards and forwards until I get so excited that I run around the lounge, sending cat toys everywhere”. Fluffy is the only stray cat that will not stay in the home for long but it is so good seeing him enjoy himself.

Our Latest Project.

With the weather turning colder it is time for more DIY, this time it is one of our double beds that gets a much needed make over. The head of the bed was quite simple so I wanted it transformed into something more in keeping with the style of the room.

We bought a carved panel from a local antique market and a pair of wooden bed knobs for on top of the bedhead and plywood, trim and a carved decal and a tin of paint, then the work started.

First Paul cut and fitted the plywood and trim to fit the bedhead.

.

Attached the carved panel, knobs and decal.

.

Then gave it two coats of Dulux sage grey paint, and the bed head was finished.

When Things Go Bump In the Night!

When darkness falls in Daglan on Halloween night not even a rain storm will stop the trick or treat children from coming to your door.

It’s Halloween, it’s Halloween
The moon is full and bright
and we shall see what we can not be
seen on any other night.

Skeleton’s, ghosts and ghouls,
werewolves rising from their tombs.
Witches on their magic brooms.

Our Halloween log is placed in the window ready for the first trick or treat children to arrive.

.

And here they are, our first children of the night looking so cute in their costumes. We had six groups of children which was a brilliant turnout considering the storm that descended later in the evening.

.

Here you are dressed for the night,
you knock and knock upon my door ready to give me a fright,
instead I am dressed up two, and give you such a fright when I go boo.

.

The costumes are brilliant and just look how big the little boys basket is.

.

A very scary quartet.

.

Heavy rain did not stop the groups of children from having fun. Luckily we had enough candy and chocolate for everyone.

Wow, you are all amazing, well done.

Today is Toussaint or the Day of the Dead, a public holiday when people think about those friends and family members who are no longer with us. The shops in the area have been full of chrysanthemums for the last few weeks. Which are a traditional flower for the dead in France. These flowers are bought and taken to the cemetery after a church service.
