Wisteria

Lounging languorously over a fence or pergola the flowing vine has a wonderful perfume that draws you in.

Before we write about the second artisan of Daglan, I just had to post a few pictures of the gorgeous wisteria of Daglan and Sarlat which flowers in the springtime and is just coming into full bloom. The flowers of which can be purple, violet, pink or white.

Wisteria originates from the legume family, Fabaceae (Leguminae) that includes ten species of woody climbing vines which are native to China, Korea and Japan.

I believe the pictures speak for themselves.

Pretty in pink. The wisteria is ideal for climbing over a pergola and hanging down over a seated area so that you can smell the wonderful perfume.

Spring in Daglan.

After the long Winter we are beginning to see the gorgeous colours of Spring. It seemed like an endless wait for Spring this year with the cold, snow, frost and rain but here it is at last. Not all of the Spring flowers are out yet but here is just a taster of the gorgeous colours that we have in Daglan at the moment.

Do not know the correct name of the flowers but they are gorgeous.
 

Our own display, these only flower in the Spring Time. We have moved them from the front of our home to the courtyard at the rear were they get more light and they love it. So many flowers this year.
 

Paul sitting in our garden, I wish! This particular day it was 23C, the temperature has now reduced to about 14C with a lot of rain forecast for the next few weeks.

Fête Du Printemps in Daglan

I love this time of year “Spring is upon us”, it is still so cold but we were out this morning buying lots of gorgeous plants from the Daglan Fête Du Printemps. There was so much to choose from, with many stalls which filled the square in front of our home in the Place Du Liberty and continued all the way along the Rue de la Republique.

There were also local authors signing their books in Salon Du Livre in the Presbyter, a children’s area in the local Primary School and Poulet au Pot Farcie at the Salle Du Fête.

People were loading up their cars with plants this morning.

Artistic Rabbit!

Yesterday was our Le Club de I’Amitie Daglanise (Friendship Club) Annual General Meeting which was followed by a delicious meal prepared by Fabrice Le Chef.

The service was excellent.

The first course was potage de saison, I was so engrossed in conversation that I forgot to take a photo.
 

Caviar d’aubergines, houmous, olives, salad de jeunes pousses et chiffonnade de jambon de pays. The vegetarian option was the same but without the jambon. With lots of Rose Red or White wine.
 

My vegetarian main meal risotto with salad.
 

The meat main meal was, tourtiere forestiere de sanglier et ses petits legumes. Paul assures me it was delicious.

Followed by fromage with salad.

Last was coffee, delicious.

It was great catching up and enjoying a meal together we had a great time.

The next club meal will be on the first Sunday in May, a traditional English Meal. Looking forward to helping to organise the menu, meal etc.

Craft and Social Sessions in Daglan Village

If you fancy making something new or bringing whatever you are making to the craft and social sessions it would be great to meet you. It is a good opportunity to meet the ladies of Daglan village for a chat, watch a demonstration by one of the ladies or like me to try to improve my French speaking skills while working on my embroidery.

Every Wednesday afternoon 2-4, in the craft room at the Salle des Fêtes, all are welcome.

There is an excellent sewing machine, fabrics, wool, cotton etc. that people can use.

Coffee or tea with delicious home made gateau or biscuits every week.
 

I love the expertly crocheted snow flakes.
 

A gorgeous sweater at the front and cute Noël decorations at the back of the table.
 
 

It’s the time of year for two of my favorite events :-

Festival of Chocolate in Sarlat, I can not wait.
 

Also the Daglan Spring Fete Flowers Festival 18th March, wonderful, we shall be there.
