A Pomegranate Tree and ZZ Tops!

A rare combination I know, but wow, a pomegranate tree fruiting in The Place de la Liberte, I have never seen a pomegranate tree before. Yes, I really must get out more.

Looking truly delicious.

Sunday morning market in Daglan
Full of tempting delights. I can highly recommend the goats cheese.

Vide Grenier (empty attic)
I am still looking for a suitable box for my embroidery silks. The Vide Grenier in Daglan gave me a chance to continue my search, I did find one box but it was just too big, will keep on looking.

“Just need to tidy up then I am ready”.

This vendors magnificent beard reminded me of ZZ Tops. His stall displayed the most amazing coffee grinders and an antique Chinese vase.

We are very sorry that we could not attend the musical evening last night, hoping that everyone had a brilliant time.

The 8 à Huit Supermarket in Daglan will be closed from the 1st to the 8th October.

A Fathers Day Breakfast with a Sparkle!

As a Fathers Day treat a Picnic breakfast was called for, to our delight the morning was full of surprises.

First a visit to Maison Carré at Castelnaud-la-Chapelle for some wonderful pastries and breakfast by the river. It was a little chilly yesterday morning but we still enjoyed the peace of the river Dordogne.

Then for our first surprise:-Vintage cars, a Brocante and Vide Grenier, who could ask for more.
This is Paul’s favourite of the morning.
He was a rally driver in his (much) younger years and his love of fast and fascinating cars still holds true today.

I picked the very showy Stingray, enough said I think.

Two more wow my goodness cars

and then off to the Brocante.
If you are ever in Daglan you must call in at the Brocante. The owner pictured above was present with a nice display of antiques and bric-a-brac.
I was very tempted with the vintage containers.

All that was needed was the sunshine to make it perfect.

Then on to the Sunday market at St Cyprien

Who needs sunshine when you have this magnificent display of colour not only along the main road in St Cyprien but the side streets and car parks as well.

This display was superb. Wow, paper wisteria pink and blue hanging from the sky.

We have brilliant news, Association Pirate, cat rescue now have an office in the Presbytery in Daglan. They are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 14:00 to 17:30.

A Pirate from their Facebook page

They do brilliant work rescuing unwanted cats and placing them into new homes. So if you would like a cat to adopt or foster do call in. I think that they are also happy to receive cat food and toys. They will also help if you have lost a cat in the area. Take a look at their facebook page for the latest news.

Mortisha

Before we moved to France we sorted through a lot of items, some that would fit well in the French property and much that would not. Sometimes difficult decisions were made about what to keep and what to dispose of. One of which was the old wrought iron candelabra, I thought no, it should be left behind, Paul wanted to take it for personal reasons. Yes it was and I am so glad that we did.

It was not until I started to renovate the candelabra that I began to remember where it came from so many years ago. It was a gift from my father in law who died seventeen years ago. So while I worked fond memories of him came flooding back. Recalling our first meeting when he welcomed me as ‘Mortisha, from the Adams family. Well I was dressed in a long black dress with hair flowing past my waist and wearing a large black floppy hat. In my defence I was only seventeen at the time and it was in the late 1960’s.

Fond memories Fond memories of a man who is still missed today.

Cheers DadI think that he would have loved sitting on the veranda by candle light sipping a drink or two. Cheers Dad.

Now that the warmer days are here, flowers are starting to develop and open in our courtyard.
apple blossomMagnificent is the apple blossom on our new tree which looks and smells gorgeous.

I just had to take pictures of our babies relaxing in the spring warmth.

This is the life...Angel, or as she has affectionately come to be know Groucho Marks, she was not in a good mood that day.
