Daglan Fête de la Saint-Louis – Sunday Evening.

What a transformation from a quiet village to the party capital of the Perigord. Every culture, every nationality, everyone, having a good time on the bumper cars, singing and dancing in the streets and enjoying the party.

The bumper car ride was packed from two in the afternoon until two in the morning.

There were two bands, Sax Banda and Bandazik, playing in the main Rue de la Napoleon in front of Le Petit Paris Restaurant.

Well hello sailor, Judith having a great time in the foam with a few pirates.

Darth Vader and one of the storm troopers are hidden underneath all of the foam. Members of the rugby club and other revellers dancing on an impromptu mobile dance floor while throwing foam onto the spectators.

You do not often get the opportunity to take a picture of a Star Wars storm trooper and a pirate ship together on the main road through planet Daglan!

Approaching Pirate Ship floating through a sea of foam.

At twenty past eleven everyone started to walk towards the bridge to watch the hillside come alive with a stunning firework display.

Wow, a brilliant Fête, well done to everyone for the organisation, planning, costumes, entertainment etc.
It truly was an amazing weekend.

Event:- St Cyprian Brocante this Saturday and Sunday.

Daglan Fête de la Saint-Louis – Cinema Themed Parade.

Wow people certainly know how to party until the early hours of the morning in the village of Daglan. With four days of entertainment including festive meals, pétanque competitions, concerts, a parade, fireworks, and a bal musette.

The highlight for me is the parade on Sunday afternoon. Every year the parade takes on a different theme, this year it was ‘The Cinema’.

The amount of preparation and skill that goes into transforming farm tractors, trailers, old cars and even a 2 speed (stop and go fast) quad bike into flying saucers, space ships, French resistance hideaways, or pirate ships is just brilliant. The Costumes were truly amazing, Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars being my favourites.

Here are just a few of the pictures that we took yesterday so that you can get a feel of the party and celebrations.

French Resistance armed with water pistols and water bombs. Needless to say Paul and I got totally soaked.

Here you can see our intrepid cameraman Paul being shot with a stream of water.

The Daglan Rugby Club always know how to get the party going.

Here are a few of the guys wearing dresses.

The shouts of joy from the children could be heard over the music as they ran and played in the foam.

Ahoy, a pirate ship approaches with Jack Sparrow (Pascal Dussol our Maire) at the helm.

Brilliant, cheers guys.

Who you gonna call? The Ghost Busters are here.

In a galaxy far far away is the planet Daglan, brilliant, amazing. Yes, I am a big Star Wars fan.

Wow, wow and wow again.

Pictures of the evening fun will be in “take two”.

Today is the last day of the Fête de la Saint-Louis so if you are in the area come and join the party, the Bal Musette begins at 21:00 tonight.
