A Very Worthy Legion of Honour.

Bastille day is a big celebration across France so it is no surprise that it is celebrated in style in Daglan. With a dinner, dance and fireworks last night and today a more formal ceremony to present the greatest medal of honour in France to one of Daglan’s great heroes, M. Jacques Pasquet who has courageously given so much for his country.

Le Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur more usually known as The Legion of Honour is the highest French order of merit for military and civil merits. The Legion of Honour was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802 and has been retained by all the Governments and Regimes holding power in France since.

How proudly these veterans sing the National Anthem.

A tribute to these great men by our Maire, M. Pascal Dussol.

What a moment for this courageous man, proudly displaying his Legion of Honour.

The Maire also spoke about M. Pasquet’s cycling and formidable pétanque skills.

A very proud moment which was celebrated by Daglan Village.

To me they look so like resistance fighters.

I am so proud to have met you all today.

Enjoying the company of true heroes.

What such day would be complete without a visit from a famous supermodel. She is so gorgeous enjoying the day and of course the crisps.
